Looking to go Matte…

Matte exteriors are unique, sleek, and increasingly trendy. With more of our Precision Films clients expressing an interest in going matte, we thought we would share a few pointers…

1. Matte Paint…

In the past, matte paint was considered unreliable due to its texturized surface, which prevents the vehicle from being polished. When it comes to gloss paint, exterior damage can often be addressed with paint correction and buffing; however, the texturized surface of matte paint is what keeps the vehicle shine-free. In the same vein of caution, matte paint does not allow for touch-ups or repairs. While scratches and paint chips are never anticipated, they can leave a matte finish vehicle needing entire panels to be repainted in the event of an accident due to the paint’s inability to blend.

But… Matte Paint + Ceramic Pro = Precision Quality.

When a matte finish vehicle is coated with Ceramic Pro, a permanent bond is formed on the surface of the vehicle that will not wash off or break down. The protective coating can be increased with additional layers allowing a thicker/harder layer to form with improved scratch resistance, a super hydrophobic effect, weather and UV resistance, thermal resistance, anti-graffiti, oxidation & corrosion resistance, and advanced chemical resistance. We recommend this addition to any of our services for vehicle protection, maintenance, and that extra dazzle.

2. Matte Paint Protection Film…

Is perfect for customers looking for extra protection against stains, rocks, salt, insects and other road debris. However, paint protection film (PPF), also referred to as clear bra, is not indicative of color change. PPF is offered in clear and matte finishes, guaranteeing protection of the vehicle’s original paint. If you are wanting to go matte but love the color of your car, matte paint protection film is for you! The extra-level of protection it provides is unbeatable.

Keep in mind… the pores of PPF are much larger than paint, indicating they are prone to collecting dirt. With PPF and Ceramic Pro, not only will your matte vehicle be protected against rock chips, insects, and water staining, it will also be super hydrophobic and self cleaning.

3. Matte Vinyl Wrap…

Is the way to go if you are in the market for a complete color and finish change. When it comes to vinyl wraps, the sky is the limit. Vinyl wrapping is a cost effective way to go matte, while still preserving the paint of your vehicle underneath. Plus, when vinyl is coated in Ceramic Pro, it takes on all of the protective qualities the glass-like top layer offers, including dirt resistance and protection against minor scratches.
